A new star of show business in politics: a TikToker became the president of Argentina

President of Ukraine Zelenskyy was not the first star to be elected head of state. The trend of choosing a favorite of the public as the head of state has existed for a long time, but now, when social networks have covered almost the entire world, this trend is intensifying. The next people who decided to put the future in the hands of the public's favorite were the Argentines. They elected the TikToker Javier Milei to the post of president, who will lead the country on December 10. However, the very first speech after winning the elections became a cold shower for the voters.

Life is like in TikTok

Javier Milei is a 53-year-old economist. He worked as a congressman and TV expert, but became widely known precisely because of TikTok. This popularity gave him a 56 winning percent during the election. His opponent was the current Minister of Economy of Argentina, who received 44% of the votes.
However, the TikToker does not promise his voters a bright and cheerful life. On the contrary, after the victory, he addressed the Argentines and announced the following postulates:

• it is necessary to urgently correct the errors of ten years of ineffective policy;
• they will have to resort to "shock therapy" to improve the economy;
• Argentina will face inflation, unemployment, and poverty;
• it is planned to reduce expenses, primarily by reducing government ministries fr om 18 to 8;
• it is necessary to refuse from the national currency peso and introduce the dollar;
• an active fight against corruption will be start in the near future.
  Most of Milei's voters are young people who use social networks.

Who they will be friends with?

Even during the election campaign, Javier Milei emphasized that he supports the positions of former US President Donald Trump and former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro. Probably, these countries will become the closest partners in foreign policy under the new head of Argentina.
Milei's attitude towards Ukraine is positive. At one time, he strongly condemned the actions of Russia and did not lim it himself to just loud phrases, but took a direct part in one of the measures in support of the Ukrainian people.
